Handbuilding Ceramics:
A 5-Week Pottery Course

No wheel required. Just your hands, some clay, and your imagination.

Shape, stack, roll, and build your way into ceramics with our 5-week Handbuilding Pottery Course at Folklorez Art Colab.

This hands-on course introduces you to the three foundational techniques of handbuilt pottery: pinching, coiling, and slab building. You'll learn how to create both functional pottery, such as mugs, plates, and planters, and decorative pieces, including vases and sculptural forms.

Each week builds on the skills learned in the previous class, helping you develop confidence with clay while creating pieces that are thoughtfully designed, well constructed, and uniquely your own.

What You'll Learn

  • Pinching: Shape small vessels by hand while learning how clay responds to pressure, movement, and touch.

  • Coiling: Build taller and more organic forms by layering and joining coils of clay.

  • Slab Building: Roll, cut, shape, and assemble slabs of clay to create mugs, plates, vases, and more.

  • Strong Construction: Learn proper scoring, slipping, joining, and finishing techniques so your pieces are durable and well made.

  • Texture & Surface Decoration: Experiment with stamps, molds, carving, impressions, and other decorative techniques to personalize your work.

  • Sculptural Approaches: Explore clay beyond functional pottery and experiment with form, shape, and creative expression.

By the end of the five weeks, you'll have explored a variety of handbuilding techniques, developed a better understanding of clay, and created a collection of handmade ceramic pieces that reflect your own style.

Glazing and firing are included. Clay must be purchased separately. Finished pieces will be ready for pickup 4–5 weeks after the course ends.

This is non cancelable and non refundable program.
