Join us for this rejuvenating Art & Pottery Retreat and Meetup—a mindful blend of nature, texture, and creativity. Take time for yourself, meet like-minded creatives, and leave feeling inspired, connected, and refreshed. This two-hour retreat is a wonderful way to slow down, express freely, and rediscover the calming rhythm of creating with your hands.
At Folklorez, we encourage individual creativity and the joy of tactile exploration. Each session is thoughtfully designed to engage your senses, nurture mindfulness, and leave you with beautiful keepsakes made by you.
This retreat also serves as a meetup for local creatives—a warm, welcoming space to connect, share ideas, and celebrate your love for art and handmade experiences.
Hour 1: Pressed Flower Art – Bookmark Making
Begin your creative journey with the gentle art of pressed flower design. In this guided session, you’ll create elegant bookmarks using dried and pressed flowers—perfect for adding a touch of nature to your reading moments.
• A short demo will help you understand the process.
• All art supplies will be provided.
• You’ll then create your own personalized bookmarks, layering flowers and colors that speak to you.
This segment is all about slowing down, observing the beauty in small details, and capturing nature’s poetry in art.
Hour 2: Sgraffito Pottery Workshop
The second half invites you into the soulful world of clay through Sgraffito, an ancient pottery technique. The word Sgraffito comes from the Italian “sgraffiare”, meaning “to scratch.” In this process, a layer of colored slip is applied onto the clay surface, and designs are revealed by carefully scratching through it to expose the natural clay beneath.
This is an incredibly engaging and sensory experience—each movement of the tool becomes meditative, grounding, and expressive.
• The session begins with a demonstration.
• You’ll then create your own one-of-a-kind pottery piece, guided step-by-step.
• Your finished piece will be fired and ready for pickup later.
